Sperry Corporation bought out office-machines manufacturer Remington Rand in 1955. The merged company was renamed Sperry Rand Corporation. Its chief product (aside from office products such as typewriters) was the successful UNIVAC computer series. The company remained a major US military contractor until 1978, when management decided the firm needed to focus on its computing technologies. SRC sold off all the former Remington Rand holdings and dropped \\\"Rand\\\" from its name, becoming Sperry Corp. once again.
1986, merged with Burroughs and became Unisys, other parts became part of Honeywell
